Below is information on several aspects of city life in Barcelona, but the bits you don't usually see on the guides. This is constantly being updated with new and current material so keep on checking!

| Areas To Avoid (Part 1) |
| |
C\Robadors: During the day, it definitely is not the best part of town. Junkies, prostitutes, thieves and homeless people conglomerate ?n dirty, seedy road. It smells and if you look like a blatant tourist, you will most probably be robbed. Some have even descr?bed this road as having more whores than doors. Strangely enough, at night, it is not that bad. Prostitutes move out to the Ramblas taking the dirty cl?entelle with them. |

| Basic Drug Laws (Cannabis) |
| |
Drug use and possession for personal use do not constitute a criminal offence under Spanish law. However, public consumption is penalized with administrative fines.
Public possession of less than two ounces of cannabis is not a criminal offence, although heavy administrative fines can be levied. Possession of more than two ounces, growing for sale, or selling are considered criminal offences, but prison terms are not as severe as those levied in the US. |

| Buying Drugs On The Streets (Cannabis) |
| |
"Marijuana, Haxixe, Cocaine?" You are bound to hear these words whilst walking around the streets of Barcelona by night. There is an increasing amount of North Africans who are taking their Masters degree in this area of business in Barcelona. And 90% of the guiris who decide to buy from them, will, without a shadow of doubt, get ripped off. Normal procedure goes something like this:
"Come with me", says "dealer". Guiri is suspicious but desperate for drugs. Guiri goes along. "Dealer" leads guiri into some dark alley and picks up dodgy package from seemingly hidden place. Guiri gives money, takes package. After 5 minutes of unwrapping a thousand layers of plastic and paper, guiri finds small rocks. Turns around, looks for "dealer". Nada. He is long gone. And so, another guiri bites the dust. |
